Poor little Mushya! He must be so uncomfortable with the constant itching. I hope that the medicine will offer some relief. Thank you for the updates Dr. Lucy, love your blog.

I echo the hope that Mushya can be treated successfully and start thriving soon. He does seem to have some brightness in eyes so I am hoping it's an easily treatable illness. Please let us know how it went and what Mushya's prognosis it when you know for sure what the illness is. Thank you for your care of these wonderful creatures!

I was thinking as I read about Mushya that perhaps this is the only way he knows how to live. What a shame it would be if he never knows a single day of health and fitness. I hope his illness is treatable and that he grows up strong. You can already see in his eyes that he's a smart kid.

Oh Dr. Lucy, this story is just heartwrenching...I hope little Mushya can be helped...he does indeed look like, although week physically, strong in spirit.

And Lisa, what a sad story...I am sorry you had to witness that, but glad that poor dog had some love in his life at the end.

Hi Dr. Lucy, Poor little Mushya. In that last picture, you can really see how dry and flakey his skin is. Poor little guy, but you are right, his eyes have a certain spirit in them. I hope you are able to help him and that it turns out to be something that is not too serious and a not a threat to the other gorillas. Many years ago, I picked up a dog off the street that was miserable looking. It was a little cocker spaniel and she was bumping into cars, like she was blind. When I picked her up, she hardely had any hair and she tried to bite me, but had no strength to really bite hard. I took her to the vet and they said she had mange. She had no collar or way to be identified. The vet ended up putting her down because she was in such terrible condition. I'll never forget that. If it turns out to be mange, and left untreated, could little Mushya loose his eyesight.
